Favored Soul

A child walked up to me and asked me a question, "Why are you upset, Viridian?" This took me completely by surprise since I had never seen this child before. I talked to this lad and was amazed by the wisdom and insight of the boy. Right there, on the steps of a building in Stonemark, this little child hugged me and said, "May Odin guide you," and I felt the blessing of Odin as I had from other clerics many times before and then he scurried off to go play.

It was then that I determined that some clerics I had known for some time were, in fact, favored souls. To them divinity and magic through that divinity come as easily as drinking water. They don't study their art. They simply act.

Amazingly, the lad had no clue he was gifted. He had simply reacted to my very obvious state of mind.

Daughters of Odin

As many know, there are a set number of Valkyries who serve Odin in Valhalla and here in Markshire. On the rare occasion that a warrior maiden perishes Odin must replace her. It is because of this that Odin favors women frequently in Markshire. Even though they may grow old and eventually die themselves he likes to have options. Especially, since Loki has started to target them.

Markshire Specific: As with clerics, favored souls must choose a deity at creation. However, this does not mean your PC knows they are favored by a god. Some deities never touch their favored. Some take too active a role. Others treat them like potato chips.
