Paladin

Some think that paladins are the chosen warriors of a god. They are. And they take their duties to their deity's ideals and objectives seriously. Commonly, paladins perceive the world and their passage through it as a series of tests. According to Ashimar, Paladin of Tyr, "Even a mundane mission is, in the heart of the paladin, a personal test - an opportunity to demonstrate bravery, to learn tactics, and to do good in the world."

Like clerics, Paladins derive their abilities through divine magic which allow them to heal, cast spells and such.

Enforcers

Shortly after his resurrection and return to power, Lord Hanse Mark was visited by the High Priest of Tyr. The next day it was announced that the Priests and Paladins of Tyr would form the Order of Enforcers. The Enforcers were to become incorruptible investigators and judges for the Laws of Markshire. Enforcers seek out the lairs of thieves and assassins. They capture and dispense the Law to crooks and murderers. With the help of the Guardsmen in each town, order has reigned in Markshire. For as long as Chaos allows.

Races

The majority of paladins are human and elven. However, stories of an odd halfling, dwarf or pellyte paladin have surfaced from time to time. It could happen.

Markshire Specific: A paladin in Markshire must choose a SINGLE deity to follow as their primary deity. However, that does not mean they can't call upon other gods for their specialties. Irregardless of whom they call up their power always flows from their deity and going against the wishes of that deity will usually result in removal of privileges until they atone to their deity.

Not all deities can sport a paladin. So which deities can have paladins then? Here's the list ... Odin, Tyr, Balder, Forsetti, Frey, Freya and Heimdall.
